Hauptursache sind bei der Weinerzeugung eingesetzte Tanks aus Kunststoffen wie Polyethylen. Hat ein Wein jedoch den einschl\u00e4gigen scharfen Geruch von Aceton oder Nagellack, ist jedes Vergn\u00fcgen dahin und keine Abhilfe mehr m\u00f6glich.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allein der Name Styrol klingt nicht unbedingt einladend. Noch gr\u00f6\u00dfer wird das Unbehagen, sobald die alternativen Bezeichnungen zur Sprache kommen: Phenylethen, Vinylbenzol oder Ethenylbenzen. Was hat so ein Stoff im Wein zu suchen? Schlie\u00dflich gilt Styrol als gesundheitssch\u00e4dlich und zudem als leicht entz\u00fcndlich. Und wie gelangt Styrol \u00fcberhaupt in den Wein?<\/p>\n<h2>Wie riecht und schmeckt Styrol?<\/h2>\n<p>Chemisch betrachtet z\u00e4hlt Styrol zu den unges\u00e4ttigten, aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen und wird bei der Kunststoffproduktion verwendet. Dieser Hinweis hilft, den Weinfehler schnell am Geruch zu erkennen. Es ist ein scharfer, mitunter auch stechender Eindruck von Aceton oder Nagellack, Diesel oder Gummi, der die Nase bel\u00e4stigt. Taucht dieser Geruch auf, vergeht die Lust auf den Wein von ganz allein. Das eigentliche Problem mit dem Styrol r\u00fchrt von den Polyester-Tanks her, die fr\u00fcher vor allem in kleinen Weing\u00fctern oft zu finden waren. Wird der Kunststoff-Tank nach dem Aush\u00e4rten nicht richtig vom daf\u00fcr verwendeten Styrol gereinigt, ist der darin abgef\u00fcllte Wein verloren. Auch wenn solche Tanks nach der Verwendung nicht richtig oder mit den falschen Mitteln gereinigt werden, kann der Weinfehler auftauchen. Mitunter gen\u00fcgen bereits kleine mechanische Sch\u00e4den am Tank, um f\u00fcr den Eintrag des Stoffes zu sorgen.<\/p>\n<h2>Wie h\u00e4ufig tritt der Styrol-Ton in Weinen auf?<\/h2>\n<p>Da die Polyester-Tanks kaum mehr im Einsatz sind, hat dieser <a href=\"\/magazin\/weinwissen\/weinfehler-die-gaengigsten-fehler-in-der-uebersicht\/\">Weinfehler<\/a> mittlerweile Seltenheitswert \u2013 anders als noch in den 1990er-Jahren. Weing\u00fcter, die nur mit Holzf\u00e4ssern und Edelstahltanks arbeiten, m\u00fcssen das Ungl\u00fcck von Styrol im Wein nicht f\u00fcrchten. Das ist auch gut so, denn anders als bei einem <a href=\"\/magazin\/frag-die-weinfreunde\/wie-erkenne-ich-verkorkten-wein\/\">Korkfehler (TCA)<\/a> oder reduktiven T\u00f6nen, gibt es n\u00e4mlich
