Das Toro liegt in Nordspanien in der gro\u00dfen Weinanbauregion Castilla y Leon<\/a>. Namensgeber der Region ist die Stadt Toro am Fluss Duero. Neben dem Weinbau ist die Region aufgrund ihrer riesigen Weizenfelder innerhalb Spaniens<\/a> als \u201eBrotkorb des Landes\u201c (spanisch: Tierra del Pan) bekannt. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In der Weinbauregion Toro sind die Sommer hei\u00df, die Winter streng und kalt. Das Klima<\/a> ist somit sehr stark kontinental gepr\u00e4gt und es gelangen trotzt der relativen N\u00e4he zum Atlantik kaum maritime Einfl\u00fcsse nach Toro.<\/p>\n

Die rote Rebsorte Tinta del Toro dominiert den Weinbau in Toro<\/h2>\n

Die H\u00f6henz\u00fcge des Kantabrischen und des Iberischen Scheidegebirges (Sistema Central) schirmen diese maritimen Luftstr\u00f6me nahezu vollst\u00e4ndig ab. Trotz der gro\u00dfen Temperaturschwankungen scheint die Sonne in Toro jedoch mit bis zu 3.000 Stunden im Jahr \u00fcberdurchschnittlich viel und l\u00e4sst die Rebst\u00f6cke auf einer H\u00f6he von 600 bis 800 Metern sehr gut gedeihen. Als Urform der Tempranillo<\/a> dominiert die rote Rebsorte Tinta del Toro den Weinbau in Toro. Dar\u00fcber hinaus wird die rote Garnacha<\/a>-Traube angebaut, bei den wei\u00dfen Sorten sind es Malvasia<\/a> und Verdejo<\/a>. Wei\u00dfweine und Ros\u00e9weine werden jedoch nur in sehr geringem Umfang gekeltert. Rotweine werden zum \u00fcberwiegenden Teil sortenrein aus Tinta de Toro hergestellt und im Barrique ausgebaut. Sehr extraktreiche und tiefrote Weine mit weichem Tannin<\/a> sind das Ergebnis.
